A finished object and an attitude adjustment

First of all I would like to introduce the beautiful and talented Miss Odessa:

I couldn't take a good picture of her to save my own life this evening, but she is done. That pattern was a lot of fun, I like knitting with beads and I am sure I will do it again. I used Debbie Bliss Cashmerino and it is the color of dark chocolate. I think it made a beautiful background for the beads, even though you can't tell it in the crappy picture.

Odessa really is a quick knit. I got side-tracked for several days and didn't even touch it, but it could have easily been knit in 2 or 3 evenings. The results are most definitely worth extra work caused by the beads.

This little attitude adjustment was on Jaye's blog the other day and it made me feel a little bit better about my thick, unruly, freakishly curly hair:

There once was a woman who woke up one morning, looked in the mirror, and noticed she had only three hairs on her head.

"Well," she said, "I think I'll braid my hair today."

So she did and she had a wonderful day.

The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and saw that she had only two hairs on her head.

"Hmm," she said, "I think I'll part my hair down the middle today."

So she did and she had a grand day.

The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed that she had only one hair on her head.

"Well," she said, "today I'm going to wear my hair in a pony tail."

So she did and she had a fun, fun day.

The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed that there wasn't a single hair on her head.

"YEAH!" she exclaimed, "I don't have to fix my hair today!"

Attitude is everything.

Be kinder than necessary,
for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

Happy Thanksgiving. Please be sure to take a few minutes to remember how much you have to be thankful for this week.

She is beautiful, your Odessa! I love the color. And I love curls, but I don't have any... But I am sure that if I had I would have hated them, because everyone with curls do... So now I am grateful for just having hair... Happy Thanksgiving (another tradition we don't have in my country)

Hi Amy: as a fellow curler (!) I liked the story you posted.

The Odessa, of course, is fabulous as well. Reminds me of Nutella with dragees. :-)

Odessa is, of course, beautiful. Love the attitude thang. My mother has a magnet on her fridge: "Life is a grindstone, whether you get worn down or become polished is your choice"

Hope you have a good Thanksgiving week.

and the thanksgiving message was good too, Amy. I think all too often we forget the good things in our lives...

That attitude thing is perfect, absolutely - I totally love that little story, and it's ever so true! I *so* hear you about the thick hair - people tend to give me lots of compliments on the thickness of my hair which they sure do with yours too - but if they knew what a mess such thick hair can be, they'd think twice about wishing for it, no? But then again - attitude is everything, let's be happy that we have thick hair and not just 1 or 2 or 3 hairs on our heads ;)
I adore your Odessa by the way - that pattern is so beautiful! I've wanted to try it out for ages but never really dared as I haven't knit with beads before - seeing your beautiful result inspired me big time to give it a try!
